R2K actively supported the proposed Barton and Cahill Park redevelopments which were ultimately unsuccessful. Prior to the R2K website, a 'St. George Stadium' website was in operation to promote the Barton and Cahill proposals and to provide a comprehensive history of St. George homegrounds including Hurstville Oval and Earl Park.
Following the rejection of both Barton and Cahill Park by Rockdale Council, R2K focused entirely on the Dragons returning to Kogarah. R2K held a successful Information Night in March 2002 at the Kogarah RSL and ran 3 candidates for the St. George Leagues Club elections in the same month.
R2K continued to keep supporters informed of all issues relating to Jubilee Oval and were delighted when the Dragons announced the return to Kogarah in September 2002. R2K assisted the Mayor of Kogarah by collecting over 5,000 signatures to support his petition for State Government funding for Jubilee which was successful in December 2002. R2K successfully lobbied for the installation of permanent lighting for Kogarah. Kogarah Council granted consent to the lighting Development Application on February 14, 2005.
The work of R2K is not complete! R2K will work to ensure that the Dragons never leave the St. George district again. R2K calls for Jubilee Ovals home game allocation to be increased to 50% from season 2006 onwards. R2K encourages the St. George Leagues Club to extend their lease of Jubilee Oval well beyond 2016.
The wishes of mainstream supporters remain clear... the Dragons must play at least 50% of their home games in the St.George district from 2006 onwards.
