R2K would like to thank the members who voted for its candidates and the committee members and volunteers who helped throughout the campaign.
"While we're naturally disappointed with the result, we have learnt a lot out of this campaign and I think that will make us stronger in the future," said R2K President Lachlan McLean.
"The change of election by-laws certainly made it more difficult to
reach members and I think that explains the decline in our vote from the 2006 election."
Despite the result, R2K believes that it ran a positive campaign and feels that it suggested some positive ideas that should be adopted by the current Board.
R2K congratulates the incumbent Directors on retaining their
positions and Martin Newman for being elected to the Board.
R2K would like to thank Danny Robinson and Michael Derrig for their diligence as the Returning Officers.
In 2009, R2K will once again run candidates in the St.George Leagues Club elections.
