100 years since the St.George pioneers met at Rockdale Town Hall
28 February 2008
Today marks the Centenary of the first meeting to form a St.George District Rugby League Football Club.
While the meeting didn't achieve its objective, it should be celebrated because it was the first step that inspired men like Joe McGraw (Club's 1st Secretary) and Allan Clark to continue the battle to establish St.George.
Two years later St.George was in a position to field a Third Grade side and this was a catalyst for St.George's entry to 1st Grade in 1921.
The meeting was held at Rockdale Town Hall. The building where the meeting took place was demolished and rebuilt after World War II.
