Completion date set for Kogarah lighting

Kogarah Council has confirmed that the installation of permanent lighting at OKI Jubilee Stadium will not be finalised until at least mid-October.

This official confirmation contradicts the statements made by Project Manager Frank Bates at the Dragons' "Family Fun Day" in June. Bates stated that the lights could be installed in time for the Parramatta match in August, which has since been scheduled for a Sunday afternoon.

While the trenching to lay the conduit and electrical cable is almost completed, there are a number of other tasks that need to be undertaken before the practical completion. These include an Energy Australia substation upgrade on Jubilee Avenue, the installation of the main switchboard and a new power supply commission. The delivery of the lighting poles has been scheduled for early September.

In addition to the four lighting towers in the ground itself, two lighting towers will be installed on the new training field between OKI Jubilee Stadium and the Princes Highway. The cost of converting the area to a training field was $90,000 and daytime training sessions have recently commenced at the site.

While the software relating to the existing turnstiles was recently upgraded, the installation of the new turnstiles in English Street won't be completed until next season.

The new seating at the northern and southern ends of the ground and the replacement of the existing aluminium will also take place over the off-season. However, the Oki Steering Committee is yet to select an architect to commence the necessary documentation and design of the seating.

It is also expected that the installation of the new demountable gymnasium at 49 English Street will be finished by the end of August.
