R2K adds new objectives to protect the St.George tradition
R2K has updated its Constitution to include two new objectives following constructive feedback from St.George supporters.
The additional objectives are:
i) To ensure that the Dragons' Red V jersey is used by the Club for all Dragons' home games and to ensure that the Dragons' Red V jersey is used by the Club for all Dragons' away games unless there is a clash of jerseys.
ii) To campaign for the St.George 1941 jersey to replace the all red jersey as the Dragons' alternate jersey.
The 1941 jersey can be viewed at:
The R2K committee believes that 2008 is an appropriate opportunity for St.George-Illawarra to adopt a traditional jersey to help celebrate the Centenary of rugby league.
The adoption of the 1941 jersey as the Dragons' alternate jersey would be a great way to commemorate the Dragons' maiden premiership in the Centenary year.
The design is sufficiently different from the previous Dragons' blood and bandages jersey to encourage supporter interest in this traditional strip.
The two new objectives complement the existing R2K objectives:
- To ensure that 50% of St.George-Illawarra Dragons’ home NRL matches are allocated to OKI Jubilee Stadium.
- To ensure that OKI Jubilee Stadium is maintained as a multi-purpose community asset.
- To reinforce the St.George identity and heritage.
- To assist the St.George juniors wherever possible.
- To oppose the further privatisation of the St.George-Illawarra Dragons.
- To maintain a website with a professional appearance that disseminates information that promotes OKI Jubilee Stadium and St.George District rugby league in a positive light.
- To campaign for R2K representation on the St.George Leagues Club Board where necessary in order to represent the interests of St.George supporters and St.George Leagues Club members.
- To take part in other activities as shall be decided by members at prescribed meetings of R2K.
