OKI Jubilee Stadium parking set to increase

17 August 2006

Parking for matches at OKI Jubilee Stadium is set to increase with the closure of the St.George Leagues' Bowling Club on December 31.

The Bowling Club, which was formed in 1958, will cease operations due to its ageing membership. Before the new parking spaces can be provided to Leagues Club Members, the Club needs to repair and stabilise a retaining wall on the boundary of the Bowling Club site.

While the additional parking facilities will offer commercial advantages for the Club operations and for matches at OKI Jubilee Stadium, the closure of the Bowling Club will mark a sad day in the history of the Leagues Club. While the Bowling Club will not make its golden jubilee at the St.George site, there is a chance the Bowling Club membership may be moved to another Bowling Club in the St.George area.
