Robert McClelland the Federal member for Barton and Daryl Melham the
Federal Member for Banks are pleased to announce that a Latham
Government is committed to supporting the submission by the St George
Illawarra Dragons to fund the upgrade of Kogarah Oval.
The proposal would be funded over two years at a cost of $8 million
dollars.
The first stage would involve an upgrade of lighting, additional seating, upgrade of training and preparation facilities and surface improvements.
The second stage of improvements would involve the construction of
additional grandstand seating including dressing rooms, canteen,
additional toilet facilities including disabled access, a gymnasium
and classroom.
This is an important innovation that involves a respected Rugby League Club becoming even more involved in our local Community.
Experienced coaching and health staff will be able to utilise the class room to pass on their wealth of knowledge about the benefit of health and exercise.
The development of a gymnasium would enable senior students to do weights alongside their heroes.
This would enable players to act as mentors and give on the spot direction on exercise technique and diet.
The upgrade will be a great local resource and further a Latham Labor
Governments objective to implement practical measures to fight obesity and develop effective mentoring programmes for young men.
