Frank Hyde The most famous of rugby league broadcasters is keen to talk about a return to Kogarah. Before he was a famous broadcaster, Frank Hyde had a successful football career with Newtown, Balmain & Norths. From 1953 to 1986 he was never defeated in the radio ratings and called 33 consecutive grand finals. Frank Hyde is truly a rugby league institution.
Tony Squires The host of the popular ABC program, The Fat which also features Peter Wilkins. Tony Squires has been a journalist for more than 20 years, writes a weekly column in the Sydney Morning Herald and is featured on ABC radio. An entertaining speaker, Tony is passionate about the Dragons returning to Kogarah.
John Dowling The ever popular John Dowling played for Saints between 1979-84 and wants to see the Dragons play in St.George as well as the Illawarra. Hailing from Murwillumbah, John Dowling arrived at Saints via Wynnum Manly. After his playing career, he returned to St.George as the clubs lower grade coach under Craig Albert Young in the late 80s.
Dick Caine After addressing the R2K rally in July 2000, Dick Caine is back and more determined than ever to see a return of the Dragons to Jubilee Oval. Dick Caine helped to put Kogarah back on the agenda after a fiery 2KY interview leading up to the first rally. He is famous for producing Olympic and swimming World Champions and is Susie Maroneys long-term coach.
Peter Bryant The former Mayor of Rockdale and current Rockdale Councillor did an admirable job as MC of the R2K rally in July 2000. Peter Bryant still maintains his passion for the Dragons at Kogarah and will explain some of the problems with the Barton & Cahill Park redevelopments which were rejected by Rockdale Council in late 2001.
Robert Stone Currently the Executive Officer of the St.George District Rugby League Football Club, Robert Stone will state the Clubs position on Jubilee Oval. Stone is better known as the veteran forward who scored a spectacular individual try in the 1977 grand final replay when Saints crushed a hapless Parramatta.
Shane Millard The very well respected Shane Millard will present the Junior Rugby League angle on the Dragons leaving Kogarah. Shane Millard was the St.George Jersey Flegg Coach from 1993-95, St.George Reserve Grade Coach between 1996-97 and Jersey Flegg Coach again between 1998-99.
In addition there will be a letter of support from St.George legend Mark Coyne, a statement confirming Kogarah Councils position and speeches from R2K representatives.
The night will conclude with the 1988 Panasonic Cup Final on the big screen. See the mighty Saints defeat the Balmain Tigers in a mid-week classic.
Please be advised that attendees under 18 are allowed into the Kogarah RSL auditorium and that attendees must comply with the standard RSL dress code.
